BURTON Albion is looking for nominees for its second Fan of the Year.
Life-long supporter Bernard Lawes was named the club’s first Fan of the Year at the end of last season.
He received the George Rider Memorial Trophy – an annual award for a supporter who has shown dedication and commitment beyond the norm in following the Brewers.
The trophy has been donated by Margaret Morton, whose grandfather George Rider was a long-standing Brewers fan.
George was the treasurer of the old Burton Albion Supporters’ Club. He was a dedicated Brewers supporter at the old Lloyd’s ground on Wellington Street, where he worked on the turnstiles.
Bernard, now in his 80s, has been following Burton Albion from the very first season back in 1950, and has a seat at the Pirelli Stadium to this day.
Now we are looking for nominees for this year’s award
Fans are invited to nominate who they want to receive the award.
Please email your nomination to firstname.lastname@example.org telling us why they should be named Fan of the Year. Please include your contact name and number. The award will be presented on May 7 at the Reading game. Nominations must be received by Friday, April 28
