On Wednesday 14th February, Burton and South Derbyshire College’s Mulberry Restaurant opened its doors for Valentine’s Day as Catering and Hospitality students prepared and served a deliciously romantic menu to the public.
Those who were quick enough to book a table for themselves and their significant other to dine at the Mulberry Restaurant on Valentine’s evening were treated to a delicious three course menu, with the additional option to order the special Mulberry Kiss cocktail.
The evening was devised by Level 3 Catering and Hospitality student, Poppie Tilley (19), who co-ordinated everything, from the décor and music to designing the menu and creating the cocktail recipe.
Mulberry Restaurant Manager and Lecturer, Denise Oliver, commented: “Poppie did a fantastic job planning the Valentine’s Themed Evening and the students worked really hard to put on a brilliant night, which was very much enjoyed by everyone who attended. The themed evenings enable students to express their creativity and gain confidence, preparing them for a successful career in the catering industry.”
Themed events add excitement to Wednesday evenings for customers, as well as provide students with valuable work experience. By organising the evenings, students gain the job ready skills needed to plan events and provide an excellent customer experience.
This is one of many exciting themed evenings that the Mulberry Restaurant hosts throughout the year, with upcoming themes including a Caribbean Evening, Mad Hatter’s March Madness and Italian Riviera Evening, all of which are fully booked. Limited spaces are still available on the Mexican Experience on the 18th April and the Spanish Night on the 2nd May. To make a booking, please call 01283 494673 or email email@example.com.
