BUSINESSES and organisations are being urged to sign up and be part of a major job opportunities event.
East Staffordshire’s Worklessness Action Group is appealing for groups and firms of all shapes and sizes to come forward and book a free stand as part of the successful job opportunities day next month.

The event will take place from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Wednesday, May 18, at Burton Market Hall.
The same event February this year saw more than 712 people looking for jobs come through the doors at Burton and South Derbyshire College, in Lichfield Street, in just three hours.

Nearly 40 different stallholders attended the event ranging from Business Enterprise Support, which is based in Gretton House, Centrum 100, to Burton Jobcentre Plus.

Prospective employers set up stalls, and advice is on offer for those looking for employment.
Jeanette Hines, Employer Adviser for Department for Work and Pensions in the town, urged organisations across the area to get involved.

She said: “Our last event in February saw 712 jobseekers attending to look for work or advice and guidance in the three hours the event was held at Burton & South Derbyshire College with 38 stall holders contributed to make this event a great success.

“I hope others will be able to take part and promote any vacancies they may be recruiting for or offer advice, guidance and volunteering opportunities for your organisation.

The event is organised by a collective partnership made up of Business Enterprise Support, East Staffordshire Borough Council, Burton Jobcentre Plus, Trent & Dove, Orbit Housing, Burton and South Derbyshire College and Support Staffordshire.
Anyone interested in booking a stand at the event is urged to call Mrs Hines on 01283 505125.
