Have your say on Marchington’s new Neighbourhood Plan

East Staffordshire Borough Council ESBC

The Parish Council and the community of Marchington have worked hard to produce a Neighbourhood Plan for their area. The plan sets out policies and proposals that will eventually be used when the East Staffordshire Borough Council decide planning applications in their area.

The Parish Council has put on various events and have consulted on the draft plan with residents and other stakeholders on several occasions, most recently with statutory consultation between 4th January and 16th February 2016.

The Borough Council is now advertising a further consultation period, which began on Thursday 7th April 2016 and will finish on Friday 20th May 2016 (5pm).

After this, the Plan will be examined by an independent Examiner. Finally, the Plan goes to a Referendum of the people of Marchington Parish, and if the majority agree (50% plus one) the Plan becomes the one of the main documents used by the Borough Council for planning applications in the Parish.

The Plan and its supporting documents can be viewed on the Council website at: http://www.eaststaffsbc.gov.uk/planning/planning-policy/neighbourhood-plans/marchington .Hard copies can be viewed at:

  • Customer service Centre, Uttoxeter Library
  • Marchington Community Shop
  • Marchington Village Hall
  • Marchington Woodlands Village Hall
  • Mobile Library (please see Staffordshire County Council for dates/times of visiting Marchington)

Any formal comments on the Neighbourhood Plan can be made to East Staffordshire Borough Council no later than 20th May 2016 5pm via the Neighbourhood Planning page on the ESBC website, or by writing to Planning Policy, ESBC, PO Box 8045, Burton upon Trent, DE14 9LG, or by emailing neighbourhoodplanning@eaststaffsbc.gov.uk
