60 Women in Business delegates and event partners at Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the programme

Women from across the region celebrated the second anniversary of the Chamber of Commerce, Women in Business programme in style at Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel – by offering a fresh approach to networking in the region with skill workshops and bags of inspiration to help all working women achieve their ambitions.

During the anniversary event 60 ladies had the chance to learn new skills from professional trainer Sally McMahon and network with likeminded women over lunch; with the opportunity to win a number of glamourous prizes raffled off for its 2015 chosen charity East Staffordshire Citizens Advice.

Following the success of the Women in Business programme over the last two years, the Chamber of Commerce and its event partners FCM Associates, Smith Partnership and Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel, are broadening their reach across Southern Staffordshire to attract more ladies who require support and inspiration to help grow their businesses.

Carol Sewell from Chamber of Commerce said: “We were delighted to welcome the ladies to our second anniversary event on 10th March. The event partners firmly believe our group has become an established part of the regional business networking calendar and we will continue to offer business skills workshops and personal development seminars for the delegates. Also our new steering committee will help us gain further insight into what our delegates want to gain from the events and how we plan for the future. It can be very lonely setting up your own business or being in a senior role in a large organisation, so making new business contacts and new friendships is essential to improving confidence and performance.”

Claire Twells, Business Development Manager from Smith Partnership also made an announcement at the event: “As an event partner, Smith Partnership was thrilled to unveil an exciting development for the programme in 2016, as we were approached by Stratstone MINI to sponsor our four events this year. To coincide with the launch of the new mini convertible they have offered our ladies the chance to be in a business card draw to win a week’s hire of a mini from their mini range!

“The first winner of our business card prize was Jane Ingram from Age UK Burton – congratulations!”

Natalie Fox, PR Leader for Stratstone: “On the week in which we celebrate International Women’s Day, Stratstone is proud to be supporting Women in Business with the Chamber of Commerce, it’s been a fantastic event.

“Stratstone MINI Derby’s Dealer Principal Sandra Domagala thought a ‘MINI for a Week’ would be a great prize and give a local businesswoman the chance to experience the unique and fun driving experience that comes with a MINI and we’re delighted for Jane from AgeUK, who was so delighted to win.”

Sally McMahon the Managing Director of Skylark Training and Development Ltd, spoke about her training session at the event: “I was delighted to have been invited by the Chamber to deliver a session offering practical ideas and tips that can have a real impact on managing yourself within the time available, and that can also help the ladies to achieve better results for their businesses. It was a lovely to meet all the ladies and to be a part of the second anniversary event!”

The Women in Business partners have been delighted to raise money for its official charity for 2015, East Staffordshire Citizens Advice over the last year and the winners of three glamourous raffle prizes at the event were:

Ø Annie Dunn (Tall Order Promo) – bottle of Moet Champagne donated by Barclays
Ø Sian-Elin Flint-Freel (Flint-Freel) – Luxury food hamper donated by Smith Partnership
Ø Cheryl Turner (Tao Business Services) – Spa Day for 2 donated by Hoar Cross Hall Spa Hotel

The official charity for 2016 was voted for by the delegates yesterday so it will be announced shortly. At each event there is an opportunity to join in a fund raising activity and to meet a representative from a local charity to find out more about their work in the community.
