SmallBiz100 success for Elaine

Elaine 1A former newspaper journalist, celebrating five years of running her own freelance writing and consultancy company in Burton, has been named among the 100 small businesses to be celebrated by Small Business Saturday, the UK’s dedicated day for small businesses on December 5th.

Elaine Pritchard set up Caittom Publishing Limited in 2010 and offers a range of writing services, advice and training to help businesses and individuals raise their profile and reach and influence their target audiences online and in print.

She will be among those featured, one per day, for the 100 days leading up to Small Business Saturday itself. Elaine’s day in the spotlight will be Wednesday September 30th.

As well as being a member of Burton Business Club, Elaine is one of three volunteer leaders of the Burton women’s networking group WiRE and a founding partner of the not-for-profit Burton Small Business Group, which offers a free business guide that can be downloaded from its website www.burtonsmallbusiness.co.uk/guide.html.

Elaine said: “I was surprised and delighted to hear I’d been chosen as one of the Small Biz 100. I’m looking forward to sharing the story of my business journey, inspiring others to take the leap of faith to set up their own enterprise and also thanking the small businesses that have helped me get to where I am.”

Small Business Saturday is the UK’s most successful small business campaign. Last year 16.5 million adults went out to support a small business on Small Business Saturday with 64% of the UK aware of the campaign. The UK’s small businesses between them provide 60% of private sector jobs and nearly 50% of private sector turnover. Last year the campaign was featured by all major media, trended at number one on Twitter on the day and received around 3.5 million views on its Facebook page. This year Small Business Saturday carries the theme ‘5 million small businesses, 1 big day’.

National Campaign Director Michelle Ovens explained: “Although the campaign focuses on one day, the goal is to Small Business Saturday_logo_2015whitehave a lasting impact on small businesses by changing mind-sets, so that people make it their mission to support small businesses all year round. Most people in this country own a small business, work for a small business or know somebody who does, so supporting a small business on Small Business Saturday is absolutely personal.”

Logos, digital banners, a social media guide and toolkits are available to download from the website www.smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com and can be displayed online or on premises. Businesses around the country can also upload information to the website’s ‘My Small Business Finder’ about any special events or promotional offers they will be running for Small Business Saturday.
