Foundation Learning students at Burton and South Derbyshire College have been raising money for charity through their Pathways to Employment course.
Students put their teamwork and communication skills to the test as they worked together to organise and hold an event as part of their community project unit.
The project saw the students divided into two teams to hold fundraising events, including selling handmade crafts, holding a raffle and running a guess the number of sweets in a jar competition. The fundraising activities raised £265 in total, with £125 going to Cancer Research and £140 being donated to Mind.
Course Leader, Michelle Elliott said: “It was great to see students to experiencing new things and raising money for worthwhile causes in the process. Each student felt a great sense of achievement and pride, as well as using their teamwork and communication skills to make the project a success.
“I am extremely proud of them all for their fantastic achievement. Students on the Pathways to Employment course work hard to overcome barriers to education, learning skills they will need in their future employment.”
